Product Developer (f/m/x) for Innovative Materials

With our innovative technology, we turn plant leftovers of the agricultural industry into a novel sustainable biomaterial - biobased, plastic-free, and compostable. A material that leaves no harmful traces. With this, we want to replace as many plastics as possible, and this is where you come in.

As Product Developer (f/m/x) for Innovative Materials you will drive the advancement and optimization of our material technologies and products, to help us enable a transition to use traceless products for a maximum array of applications and make the biggest possible contribution to solving global plastic pollution.

With your experience in new products development and in natural polymers you will be a key player in developing next-generation solutions that push the boundaries of our materials. You will collaborate closely with our R&D, engineering and sales teams to transform innovative concepts into practical, market-ready technologies. Your role will involve analysing performance metrics, conducting comprehensive testing, and providing strategic insights to expand our material applications. By bridging technical knowledge with customer needs, you will help our organization develop materials that offer superior performance and sustainable solutions for complex industrial challenges. As part of your tasks

You develop processing concepts, lead laboratory tests in our facilities, and communicate technical and project-related information to internal and external stakeholders
You define and develop, as well as validate, innovative testing strategies and ensure optimum testability as part of product development
You characterize materials and products, and perform application tests in lab scale
Continuously expand the understanding of state-of-the-art technologies and processes for specific products
You lead production tests in collaboration with our partners for the application of traceless materials on their machines
You help us gain an even deeper understanding of our materials as they are used in converting machines to understand their potential for optimization
You identify opportunities to optimize our material properties while maintaining their unique, holistic sustainability
You share your knowledge about the processing of our material and ideas on how to improve the production with our production and quality teams

You will spend your working days in an innovative work environment with start-up flair in our laboratory in Buchholz i.d.N., south of Hamburg.

Your profile

You have a degree in polymer science, material science, chemical engineering or similar with an applied research mindset
You have at least 3 years of experience in biopolymer-based product and features development
You have a sound technical understanding of natural polymer structures, interactions, processing techniques and polymer compounds
You are practically minded and have a solution-oriented mindset
You have experience in managing projects independently and have a track record of successfully leading projects from concept to implementation
You are a team player with the ability to communicate directly and to the point and thrive in cross-functional collaborations
You have an entrepreneurial spirit, are reliable and think innovatively
You're down-to-earth, direct, with a sense of humour
You are proficient in both spoken and written English (and ideally German – we will be happy to support you here)

About us

traceless is a young company - with a big vision: a future free of pollution and waste! Our award-winning company was founded in Hamburg in 2020 by our female founding duo Anne and Johanna. By now we are a diverse team from different disciplines, ages and twelve nationalities, united by our common mission: to contribute to solving plastic pollution and build the regenerative industry of the future. Als Produktentwickler:in (m/w/d) für innovative Materialien treibst du die Weiterentwicklung und Optimierung unserer Materialtechnologien und Produkte voran. Dein Ziel: Eine möglichst große Anwendbarkeit von Materialen für den Einsatz in traceless Produkten ermögliche und so den größtmöglichen Beitrag zur Lösung der globalen Plastikverschmutzung leisten.
Mit deiner Erfahrung in der Entwicklung neuer Produkte und im Bereich natürlicher Polymere wirst du eine Schlüsselrolle bei der Entwicklung von hochinnovativen Lösungen übernehmen. Dabei arbeitest du eng mit unseren Teams aus Research & Development, Technology Development und Sales zusammen, um innovative Konzepte in praxisnahe, marktreife Technologien zu überführen. Deine Aufgaben umfassen die Analyse von Leistungskennzahlen, umfassende Testverfahren und die strategische Weiterentwicklung unserer Materialanwendungen. Durch die Verbindung von technischem Wissen mit Kundenanforderungen hilfst du uns, Materialien zu entwickeln, die sowohl leistungsstark als auch nachhaltig sind und das für die anspruchsvollsten industriellen Herausforderungen.

Zu deinen Aufgaben gehören:

Entwicklung von Verarbeitungsprozessen, Durchführung von Labortests in unseren Einrichtungen sowie Kommunikation technischer und projektbezogener Informationen mit internen und externen Stakeholdern
Definition, Entwicklung und Validierung innovativer Teststrategien, um eine optimale Testbarkeit im Produktentwicklungsprozess sicherzustellen
Charakterisierung von Materialien und Produkten sowie Durchführung von Anwendungstests im Labormaßstab
Kontinuierliche Erweiterung des Verständnisses für aktuelle Technologien und Prozesse im Bereich spezifischer Produkte
Leitung von Produktionstests in Zusammenarbeit mit unseren Partnern zur Anwendung von traceless-Materialien auf deren Maschinen
Vertiefung des Verständnisses unserer Materialien bei der Verarbeitung in Produktionsmaschinen, um ihr Optimierungspotenzial zu identifizieren
Identifikation von Möglichkeiten zur Optimierung unserer Materialeigenschaften unter Wahrung ihrer einzigartigen, ganzheitlichen Nachhaltigkeit
Weitergabe deines Know-hows zur Verarbeitung unseres Materials und deiner Ideen zur Produktionsverbesserung an unsere Produktions- und Qualitätsteams

Dein Profil

Du hast einen Abschluss in Polymerwissenschaften, Materialwissenschaften, Chemieingenieurwesen oder einem vergleichbaren Studiengang mit einer Ausrichtung auf angewandte Forschung
Du hast mindestens 3 Jahre Erfahrung in der Entwicklung von Produkten und Anwendungen auf der Basis von Biopolymeren
Du hast ein fundiertes technisches Verständnis für natürliche Polymerstrukturen, Wechselwirkungen, Verarbeitungstechniken und Polymerverbindungen
Du bist praktisch veranlagt und hast eine lösungsorientierte Denkweise
Du hast Erfahrung im selbständigen Management von Projekten und hast bereits erfolgreich Projekte vom Konzept bis zur Umsetzung geleitet
Du bist ein Teamplayer der direkt und zielgerichtet kommunizieren kann und in interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit bestens zurechtkommt.

traceless ist ein junges Bioökonomie Startup mit einer großen Vision: Einer Zukunft frei von Verschmutzung und Abfall. Unser preisgekröntes Unternehmen wurde 2020 von unserem Gründerinnen-Duo Anne und Johanna in Hamburg gegründet.
